How DFMRT is funded
DFMRT’s charitable status, its annual running costs and where its income comes from.

DFMRT is a registered charity, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), and says it is totally reliant on donations. The Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSAMRA) provides some grants, but DFMRT says the majority of its income comes from its own fundraising activity and donations.
DFMRT explains that some of its equipment, in particular medical and technical rescue equipment, has a short life because it must be absolutely reliable. Added to the cost of maintaining and replacing three vehicles, this means the team needs a steady inflow of funds.
DFMRT puts its annual running cost at around £42,000, plus £10,000 towards future replacement vehicles. Donations can be made online through the team’s donations page or by becoming one of its supporters.
