DFMRT’s January 2026 account of construction, fundraising and the continuing need for support.

In its January 2026 update, DFMRT said construction of its permanent base was well under way beside the team’s rented base at Foxfield. The team expected to occupy the building in early or mid-2026.

The update said the team had raised £1 million over ten years. It also recorded a further £130,000 raised by supporters during 2025 and £260,000 in grants towards the build. DFMRT said the build was covered, while fundraising was still needed for fit-out, annual running costs and future vehicle replacement.

DFMRT said it was the only Lake District team without a purpose-built base. It described the rented building as inadequate for storing and drying equipment, training and welfare, and managing incidents involving multiple teams or agencies.
